It’s been some time since I last posted to my blog. I’ve been going through my own Metamorphosis, just like one of my previous painting series. Since my last post, not only have I been remodeling my studio, but two of my painting mentors have passed away. William “Skip” Lawrence and Carol Cooper have both died, and I have moved up in the line into the position of mentor. I am not yet comfortable in that role, as I am still forlorn at the passing of my beloved teachers and mentors, but I feel so blessed to have had them both as guides on my art journey. I will try my best to make them proud as I carry on in shepherding in the next class of artists as I continue to create art.
What’s next for me? I am preparing to travel to Scotland for my first big art trip since Maine in 2021. I’ll be gathering lots of photographs and sketches to bring home for a new series, and I’ll be writing all about my adventures for all of you here. The other exciting news is I have a new assistant that will be traveling with me, a new graduate from the University of Arkansas that holds a degree in Art Education. Her name is Emma Gilbert, and she is an amazing artist in her own right. I can’t wait to introduce you to her work. Much more to come on Emma in the future. We will also get back to introducing some of my favorite artists, and getting to some mini art lessons along the way. But until then here’s to all the beautiful souls out there just wanting and needing to create. Keep painting and making art!
Light and Love,
Catherine
